Comfort, Home, Microsoft, and Subway

Everyone has these little quirks about them, and the more I’ve begun to blog, the more I’ve realized my own little quirks.  Not that a blog about cooking has anything to do with my annoyance with someone else’s computer or eating Subway somewhere other than the Subway restaurant.

Once I wanted to cook so badly, but my kitchen was occupied (pains of being a college student, without your own home).  I created the genius idea that I’m going to go cook at my grandparent’s house, forgetting how uncomfortable it is to cook outside of your own kitchen, and burnt the chicken.  Yes, I’ll admit it, I burnt the chicken.  Something I haven’t done since I first tried to recreate my mother’s Chicken Spaghetti back in the seventh grade.  Some reason, cooking in your own kitchen is just so much more rewarding.

Food is not only better cooked from home but it tastes better when cooked there too.  I don’t know what it is about it, but once I started college, I realized this.  I tried making my favorite meals in my dorm room (on an electric skillet), and even though I used the exact same ingredients, it didn’t taste anything like I wanted it to.  I think there is always a little hint of the atmosphere around you cooked into your food.  Like, has anyone noticed that Subway tastes better if you eat it in the Subway restaurant?

It is so much easier to study and prepare for a test, when you are using your own computer.  I don’t know what it is about this magical 17” pale green laptop (everyone says it’s too big, but hush it has feelings too) that allows me to get my study cap on and produce something quicker than on another computer.

I was at work, trying to get a study guide prepared for one of my finals and the old computer with a non-updated version of Microsoft Word was bugging me beyond belief.  I couldn’t get over how frustrating it was that the Microsoft Word that I was using did not rearrange my words for me when I spelt them wrong (beleif), or didn’t delete my extra letter that I like to throw in sometimes (bettter).

Just a thought.  Maybe this all just shows how addicted I am to comfort.

Okay, tidbit is over, back to cooking. 🙂

Yummy food waiting to be cooked!

I love searching through blogs and finding delicious things that people have cooked and trying them out on my own!  I recently cooked a delicious Balsamic Vinegar Chicken, from a fellow blogger and it was one of the most delicious things that I cooked in awhile.  I go through so many pages of wonderful food and think to myself “I want to cook that” and completely forget where these wonderful recipes are located and never get to cook them.  So, I’ve decided I’m going to post a few things I have found in blogs that I have been dying to cook, and I might just start using Sunday as an Inspiration day!  Use this day as a day to give props to those fellow bloggers that can cook some yummy-mouth-watering looking food!

I absolutely love different types of salads and especially when they are not an ordinary salad!

Homemade Tater Tots and Blue Cheese by Pretty Girls Cook

I have always wondered how tater tots were made and this blog gives a great description of how they are made!
I cannot wait to try these!  I love any version of a potato.

Basic Mini Doughnuts by The Grass Skirt

Yet something else that I’ve always wanted to make homemade!

I think this blog goes along with with my Be Inspired blog!  I think it is fantastic to use other peoples recipes and even better to let them know that you enjoyed their creation!  I hope one day someone will comment on my blog and tell them that they enjoyed my recipe and tried it on their own!
